Layla Sharpe is a woman who knows what she wants and goes for it guns blazing (though not literally). So, when she get the chance to have one final spring break before going out into the real world, she decides to have fun for one week and then get on with the rest of her life. Planning on meeting one of her best friends, she heads off for the best spring break ever.

Phin Marks is the loner type who loves playing pool, a man who doesn't stay in one place long enough to know what is really like, though that could be do with the fact that he use to be a gypsy. Although, at the age of eighteen he left knowing that he would never see or hear from the people who were a big part of his life, but he always knew that yet still when anyway.

So, when Layla decides to travel in her beat up old car to Texas,she never planned on her car breaking down in Atlanta. Forced to stay in Atlanta whilst her car is been fixed isn't something she wanted. Suddenly, she is thrown into Phin world who she find out works to the company that is repairing her car. Though it isn't long before things get worse, after having all her money stolen and unable to pay for accommodation, Phin offers her his couch, although it isn't long before his couch turns into his bed.

Both Layla and Phin are from different worlds, Layla has her future planned out, where as Phin is ready to move on to the next town to start over again, just like he normally does. So, when Layla decides to change the course of her future, Phin knows that he must do everything in his power to make sure, she becomes what she has always dreamt of, even if it means losing her in the process. 

Her Best Shot is a romance story with a difference, with its complex characters it shows the difference between what we think we want in life, to what we really need in our lives and the things we learn along the way. 

If I had to sum this book up in three words, they would be Competitive, Sexy and Amazing.
